About this project

The Youth Colt Fair Project is intended for youth participating in their local county colt fair project or through their 4-H program. Youth will have the opportunity to compete for their county team or as individuals across three classes - conformation, showmanship, and ranch handling.  

Information

All youth participants MUST be actively registered with their county or 4-H program to be eligible to compete in the Youth Colt Fair Project Divisions offered by NavaRio. To find additional information about a program for your child please visit the links below. If your county or project is not represented here, email all information about your project to navarioranch@gmail.com.

Teams

Registered participants will have the opportunity to compete as an individual, or if their county is actively participating, as part of a team as determined by the county's adult leader. 

Each team will consist of 3-4 team members which must be submitted by the team leader one week in advance of the show. For teams of 4 members, the lowest scoring individual with be dropped - prizes still awarded to all 4 members of the team.

Office Fee - $20

Class Fee - $20/class

Classes

Conformation

Conformation, or halter classes, will take place on the Friday night before the show. Junior, Intermediate, and Senior divisions may compete in either the Filly or Gelding class. Juniors MUST have an adult handler with them at all times - no exceptions.

Showmanship

Showmanship classes for intermediate and senior divisions will take place on Saturday. Please refer to each show's showbill for timing and location.

Ranch Handling

Ranch Handling will take place throughout the show day At-Will. This means your child can compete at any point during the show day within the given timeframe. Please refer to each show's showbill for timing and location.

Faqs

Will there be any conformation classes on Saturday?

No, both the filly and colt classes will take place on the Friday preceding the show in the main arena. 

How can i see how my child placed at the show?

All scores and placings can be found via Saddlebook.com. Scorecards will be posted on the website following the show. Learn how to navigate the Saddlebook App at the video below. 

When will my classes run on showday?

Please refer to each show's individual showbill for class order and location.

Can my child compete if they are not registered through a county or 4-h program?

No, this program is designed to uphold the standards of county and 4-H youth programs. To be eligible to compete, your child MUST be registered in an participating program.
